S.E.E.
#106
This Southern soul singer was born in Missouri, has strong church roots through her father and as a choir singer. A trip to Memphis to perform turned in to the signing of her very first recording contract, Hi Records.
Her first single just missed the Top 20 on the R&B chart in 1969. The following year she she scored her very first R&B Top Ten. In 1974 she experienced her highest charting hit, #6 R&B, which John Lennon praised. During this period she began developing a personal and writing partnership with her label’s in house songwriter. The two would be married and continue this partnership for the rest of her career. The two focused on their family during the 1980s. By the 90s she began to appear again as a guest on other artists albums AND through samples, one which was a highly successful song in 1997.
