TRIBUTE - Founder of legendary hip-hop group Whodini, passed away at the young age of 56. During the 80’s Whodini massive hits, “Friends” and “Freaks Come Out At Night”, helped bring the burgeoning music genre the attention it needed. They released 6 studio albums and 3 were RIAA certified either Gold or Platinum. At that moment in time you couldn’t not know both above mentioned singles, they were played constantly on radio stations throughout the country.

Now try to imagine this… a nation wide Def-Jam tour headlined Run D.M.C., next slot was Whodini, followed by LL Cool J and finally Beastie Boys. That’s how big and important Whodini was during hip-hop’s most important period of time.

Chuck D.’s (Public Enemy) Twitter post really sums up the person who John ‘Ecstasy’ Fletcher really was….

1987 - I entered the @Defjam tour w PE. I tended to be nervous looking at 15000 fans in front of me every night. There were 2 MCS that directly mentored my calm that summer. 1 was @therealdougefresh

the other was Ecstacy of Whodini. Always there to reassure w advice tips #RestInBeats
