Back in 1980 Philadelphia’s original funk/disco band, The Trammps, released Mixin’ It Up on Atlantic Records. “You Can Make It”, track #2 from the album, wasn’t released as a single. Not really sure why, it’s a typical Trammps sound and lyrically offers a positive message.

Earl Young, The Trammps drummer/singer/songwriter/arranger, co-produced the album along with MFSB members, Ron Baker and Ron Kersey. Baker also played bass, Kersey played keyboards. “The Godfather of Disco”, Vincent Montana, Jr., another MFSB band member, also arranged and played the vibraphone.

Three years prior to Mixing’ It Up their song “Disco Inferno” was prominently featured in the movie Saturday Night Fever as well as its soundtrack. The soundtrack, which also featured the Bee Gees, Kool & The Gang, KC and the Sunshine Band, Tavares, MFSB and others) won a Grammy Award for Album Of The Year and is the only disco album to ever do so. In 2005 “Disco Inferno” was inducted in to the Dance Music Hall Of Fame.
