This week features spotlights on the following singers:

Irma Thomas, MF DOOM, A Tribe Called Quest and Timmy Thomas.

Prior to this IG post Daniel Dumile (MF DOOM) had recently passed away. The selection of his above character, Zev Love X, was chosen as this was how the world first became aware of his lyrical talent and microphone skills

In 1989 Dumile’s first group, KMD, appeared on 3rd Bass’s debut, The Cactus Album, released by Def Jam Recordings. Dumile was featured in the hit song “The Gas Face” (produced by Prince Paul) and it’s hilariously funny accompanying video which received heavy airplay on MTV. Only a few short years later KMD would fold after the sudden death of Dumile’s brother, and group member, DJ Subroc.

Daniel saw all stages of his career through the eyes of the characters he created and brought forth for the world to see, hear and experience. RIP to the one and only, Mr. DOOMile.
